I had a chance to keep my beer sampling very local this time. This time not to a pub, tavern or tasting-room but to a food cart pod. The food cart pod in St. Johns has gone through quite a makeover from a few years ago. Not only has it grown to eight carts offering a wide range of original good tasting food at a good value but also adding a beer bus with its own porch filled with comfortable chairs and sofa. They have eight beers on tap and one cider and several others in bottles. The beer bus is own by Captured by Porches from St. Helens. They offer a few of their brewed beers but now also have on tap beers from microbreweries Natian Brewery and Occidental. The beer selection runs from your light to a CDA and stout. I tried the CDA this time and found it had a nice blend of bitter and aromatic hop with good rich malt and dark color. The beer is served in one-pint jelly jars filled to the brim. On my visit I was still enjoying some warmth and sun from summer so it will be interesting to see how this operation fares come out cold rainy dark winter.
