Cascade Locks Ale House
500 WaNaPa St., Cascade Locks, OR – 541-374-9310 – CascadeLocksAleHouse.com – Visited: 5/28/2015
After hiking in the Gorge we have stopped by this place a couple of times now and it has been great. Literally the past owners chased us out of the place because we were hikers and had one to many people at our table. The new owners took over a couple of years ago and place is now great. They have ten micro brews on tap from local area breweries. The menu has a nice variety of offerings at good prices including pizza. What we have really enjoyed has been the outside seating and friendly service. We now have a place to go on the Oregon side of the Gorge after a hike.
View from the back side of the building from their small parking lot. Show the range on the menu. Pub grub or they have some healthy eats. Front entry. Bar area for seating or if setting out side to place your order and pay. On cold days there is inside seating by the fire or with a view out. Tables in a little nook. Historic photos on the wall. They have ten rotating taps. Nine local area micro brews and one cider. Large outside yard for summer seating with some view of the Gorge cliffs. Large outside covered back patio. The outside patio is wonderful in the summer. We all agree having real chairs to set in after a long hike is the way to go. Their batter dipped french frys are excellent. Pizza is good but not the best. -
Maher’s Irish Pub
352 B Ave., Lake Oswego – maherspub.com – Visted 11/18/2012
What I am sure is an Americanize version of what we would think an Irish pub should be like (a place you enjoy returning to). The pub is in a converted house so it allows for close intimate seating in rooms and nooks. So within a small space a verity of seating options that feel cozy. We visited on a Sunday afternoon for happy hour so no crowd but I am sure during prime time this place would get busy. We sampled a couple of beers that were their own brew and they were good. The happy hour food was just smaller version of their regular menu and all were good. Servers were attentive, friendly and helpful.

Raccoon Lodge & Brew Pub

I had a chance to visit this brewpub for lunch. It actually has a pretty good size brewing operation but that may be why it can provide the beer for Cascade Brewing’s sour beers. I had friend tell me the place was rather suburbian and she was right. The main restaurant area is good size with booth and table seating looking more like a family eatery then a traditional brewpub. We sampled three different types of beers and all were fine but nothing exceptional. I had a burger and fries, which were fine but nothing out of the ordinary. The server was attentive but not very friendly.
